The
Purpose of
Placerville Shakespeare Club
The purpose of the Placerville Shakespeare Club is to:
-
promote sociability and friendship among its members.
-
promote and encourage the pleasure, exercise and recreation of
its members.
-
preserve
the historic clubhouse for club members and as a community asset
for El Dorado County residents.
-
cultivate
and improve the minds of its members by studying the works of
eminent authors.
-
provide
local scholarships.
-
stimulate
civic pride by aiding in improvements of local interest.
-
provide
assistance to local charities and youth.
-
manage
and conduct entertainments, excursions and social meetings of
its members.
-
conduct
business according to Articles of Incorporation of the Club.

Placerville Shakespeare Club was established in May of 1897 and
continues to be a gathering place for women in the community.

Club Events Open to the Public

February 27, 2022, Sunday
"She said 'Yes' to the Dresses" fashion show.
A vintage wedding dress fashion show and tea is open to
the public on Sunday, February 27, at the Placerville
Shakespeare Club, 2940 Bedford Ave. in Placerville. Of
special note, the wedding dresses of club member Peg Campbell,
her daughter, and her grandmother, Alfrieda (Freda) C. Johnson,
who was married in 1907, will all be shown at the tea.
Doors open at 12:00 noon with tea and show beginning at 1:00
p.m. There will also be door prizes and a silent auction.
Tickets are $20.00 each. Call Peg at 530-957-2402 or Linda

wedding!

April 24, 2022, Sunday Author's
Day On April 24th, the Placerville
Shakespeare Club will present for the community their annual
Authors' Day featuring author presentations, questions &
answer period, book sales, book signings, door prizes and light
refreshments. Authors appearing: James L'Etoile - author
of gritty crime mystery/thrillers; Cindy Flaherty - memoir;
Wendy Coles-Littlepage - author of gothic romance; and Nancy
Econome - family fictional saga. This year's authors are
sure to present a varied and interesting program for all readers
to enjoy. The doors will open at noon with the program
beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the clubhouse, 2940 Bedford Avenue,
Placerville. Tickets $10.00. All event proceeds will
fund scholarships for local students. For

May 12, 13 & 14, 2022, Thursday, Friday &
Saturday Spring Rummage Sale Placerville
Shakespeare Club's Annual Giant Spring Rummage Sale will be held
on Thursday, May 12th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, May 13th
from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 14th from 9:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 2940 Bedford Avenue. This year's
spring sale will feature a large selection of jewelry, lots of
clothing, house wares, decorative items, a wide variety of
garage items, books, dolls, toys, and many other
treasures. In addition, a Saturday only plant sale will
begin at 8:00 a.m. There will be something for
everyone! Come early and bring your really big shopping
bag.

Plant Sale The Placerville Shakespeare Club's
2022 Annual Spring Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 14th
from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. outside in the front yard of the
clubhouse at 2940 Bedford Avenue, Placerville. There will be a
large selection of perennials, vegetable plants and tomatoes
galore. In addition, there will be a wide variety of yard art
available. Come early for the best bargains!

Spring
Fashion Show The
Placerville Shakespeare Club will host its Annual Spring Fashion
Show "BOOTS, BANDANAS and BOAS" on Wednesday, May
25
beginning with a Social Hour at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at
Noon. This year's show, which begins at 1 p.m., will roundup the latest spring and
summer fashions from many of our local shops. An exciting Silent Auction will be
held as well as delightful door prizes presented. This
fashionable event will be held at the clubhouse at 2940 Bedford
Avenue and is always a sell-out, so purchase your $30 tickets early
