First Saturday of the Month – Book Sale at the Placerville Library
The Placerville Friends of the Library holds a monthly book sale the first Saturday of the month from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Summer is the perfect time to pick up your beach read or your “sit back in your chaise lounge” read from the sale. Did you know you can get a grocery bag full of books at the sale for only a $7 donation? What a deal! The next book sale is Saturday, July 5th, from 8:30am to 1:30pm. If you miss this one, there will be book sales on August 2nd and September 6th. Proceeds from the monthly book sales go toward purchasing books for the library.
On January 5, 1906, the City of Placerville agreed to form a city library for the education and recreation of its citizens. It became the mission of the Placerville Friends of the Library to fulfill that promise. Please consider joining or renewing your membership to the Placerville Friends of the Library. Annual membership is only $10/individual, $20/family, $35/business, or $250/lifetime membership. Your valued memberships and contributions provide book and material purchases and many free programs throughout the year.

June 6-28, 2025 – Shakesperience Superstition/Macbeth
Come see Superstition, a light-hearted, comedic play centered on the infamous “Macbeth curse” in the world of theater. playful, self-aware production that will have you laughing at the misadventures of actors who dare to utter “the Scottish play” by name. With sharp timing, relatable humor, and a clever script that is both a love letter to theater and a satire of its superstitions.
Following that performance, come transition to Metropolitan Park for a moonlit staging of Shakespeare’s Macbeth—the very play that Superstition playfully warned us about. The contrast is powerful. Set against the open sky, Macbeth unfolds with haunting intensity, gripping performances, and atmospheric staging that gives full weight to the tragedy. The outdoor setting brings a visceral, immersive quality that heightens every dramatic moment.
Superstition will be a Single Show on Fridays in June. The double Feature will be shown on Saturdays in June
